Katsina FRSC plan road shows, hospital visit, prayers to mark World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

Ahead of this year’s 2021 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, which began Monday the 15th through Sunday, 21st November 2021, the Katsina State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC has announced a lined up of activities to mark the day.

The activities lined up in the one-week-long event include media chats, press conferences, laying of wreath, road shows and motorcade rallies, visit to hospitals and commemorative
Friday Juma’at and Sunday Church Service across the Country to climax the day.

The theme for the year 2021 African Road Safety Day and World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is “ACT FOR LOW SPEEDS/ACT FOR LOW SPEED STREETS” with the slogan “REMEMBER, SUPPORT ACT”.

According to the Corps Commander of Katsina State, Ali Sule Tanimu, the theme and slogan have been carefully chosen in view of the role speed plays in road crashes as deducted from the crash analysis of the Corps Crash Data.

“The achievement of low speed and low-speed street will drastically bring the crashes to bearable levels hence the call to ‘Remember, Support Act!’ as we join hands with stakeholders and international organizations in the fight to contain the menace of Road Traffic Crashes on our roads” he said.

He called on Nigerians to imbibe the Road Safety Culture, and to be ambassadors of low speed and low speed streets for much sought zero death target on roads noting that it will be realized sooner than envisaged.

Katsina Corps Commander then appreciated journalists for being worthy partners, as well as thanked government for their as he promised not to rest in their oars until the task before them is achieved “Especially low speed and our street as so many vulnerable road users are being killed on avoidable crashes on the streets.

He further caution and advice motorists against night travels and excessive speed as he called them to install the speed limiting device to help check mate their speed as the advantages outweighs the disadvantage.

This year, like the other years past, has been dedicated a week long in memory of all victims of road crashes death and alive.

The event is being marked across the continent and indeed across the world in prayers and actions not only to remember the victims but also to avert further occurrence of Road Accidents.
