Katsina Banditry: Police repel attack in Kankara, rescue 11 kidnapped victims

Police in Katsina State today, Sunday, has repelled a bandits’ attack at Gidan DUKA village of Kankara local government area of the State.

According to Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah “Today 14/11/2021 at about 0230hrs, bandits in their numbers, armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked Gidan Duka village, Kankara LGA of Katsina state and rustled unspecified number of domestic animals. DPO Kankara and team swiftly responded to the distress call and chased after the hoodlums.

“The team intercepted the bandits at Danmarabu village and engaged them in a gun duel. The bandits escaped into the forest, abandoning all the rustled animals, comprising thirty-eight (38) cows and eleven (11) sheep”, he said.

The PPRO noted that the team also recovered one Bajaj operational motorcycle belonging to the bandits. Investigation is ongoing.

Similarly, the Police image maker of Katsina State Police, SP Gambo Isah again said, “Today 14/11/2021, based on credible intelligence, the Command succeeded in rescuing all the eleven (11) kidnapped victims of Sabon Garin Safana, in a bandits’ hideout, at the outskirt of Tsaskiya village, Safana LGA of Katsina state.”

It would be recalled, bandits attacked Sabon Garin Safana village, on 12/11/2021 and kidnapped eleven (11) members of the village as they were taken to Dutsinma General Hospital for medical examination/treatment and have already been reunited with their respective families.

SP Gambo Isah, in a statement, however, stressed that effort is on top gear to arrest perpetrators of the crime.
