… Approves transforming Court, Judicial proceeds into technological driven
Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has alleged that some members of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, are of the habit of securing criminals’ release by using the fundamental human right enforcement.
The Governor made the disclosure while swearing in 3 new Judges of the State High Court in Government House, Katsina.
According to Masari “The Nigeria Bar Association, NBA must call its members who are with the habit of supporting bandits, rapist and armed robbers to secure the release of such suspects through the instrument of fundamental human right enforcement to be suspended and avoid compromise undercover.”
“We are on an unusual time of serious security challenges, must therefore put our heads together to address this unusual challenges.
“We have incidences where suspected bandits, terrorists, armed robbers, and rapists were released on bail only for them to commit the same offense. Such ugly incidences could have been averted if the bail was not granted at all.
“In order to address this ugly trend, I summoned a meeting with all stakeholders in criminal justice administration, and after the meeting, the Honorable Chief Judge, issued a directive to fast track investigation and prosecution of serious criminal cases between the security agencies, the State Ministry of Justice and Court with each agency is giving a frame of time to end the issues concern.
“To this development, the end of justice will be met and criminals would be appropriately punished for their crimes which serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.
Similarly, at the ceremony, Governor Masari announced the approval of the State judiciary to continue with the process of transforming the court and judicial proceeds into technology driving.
He said it was inline with his administration’s mandate to support the judicial system for optimal result, “I would like to assure you that this administration will continue to give all necessary support to the judiciary to perform optimally.
“You must be ready to take advantage of technology to improve justice delivery.
“We must put on record, that the recent security challenges containment order, is yielding positive outcome, while appreciating the sacrifice of the security forces and residents of Katsina State so far on these measures, I wish to appeal for continuous support, understanding, and corporation of all in supporting government efforts in containing the security challenges.
“I always maintained that security is a business of not only the security agencies which have human and logistic constraints, but all of us citizens who should be security conscious of the immediate environment.
“It is gratifying we have just sworn in 3 High Court Judges as individual with track record of professionalism, dedication, and integrity as confirmed the rigorous, competitive and pains taking process that led to the appointment.
“I therefore urge you to consider your appointment as a call to duties that requires more dedication, professionalism and above all fear of Allah. You must appreciate that society has very high expectations from you. Integrity, transparency, and good conduct arr qualities you must imbibe and maintain in course of your Carrier as judicial officers.’
The 3 new Judges include the Chief registrar, Katsina State High Court, Kabir Shaibu, Ibrahim Isaiaku Mashi and Abubakar Mode.
