Suspected Nigerian Custom Service’s personnel have been reported to have fired several gun shots at villagers in Mani local government area of Katsina State.
While confirming the incident, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah said it was gathered that Custom personnel stormed Fadi Gurje village and started firing into the air while in the process, one person injured.
According to SP Gambo Isah, “Report reaching my desk reveals that Nigerian Custom Service personnel inside a patrol vehicle stormed Fadi Gurje village, Mani LGA of Katsina state, fired several shots into the air and escaped to unknown destination.
“Consequently, one Auwal Sani, M, aged 35yrs of the same address was shot in the leg. The Victim was rushed to the Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina for treatment.
“Efforts is on, with a view of finding the identity of the erring officers and bringing them to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command has called for calm in the affected community and enjoins them to go about their lawful business as the police are working closely with the Nigerian Custom Service’s leadership with a view to resolve the problem and bringing perpetrators to book,” Katsina PPRO Said.
