Police nabbed bandits’ doctor, food supplier in Katsina
A 34-year-old, Murtala Umar and 45-year-old Yakuba Abubakar, suspects, have been arrested by the Police in Katsina State for being bandits’ doctor and food suppliers.
The Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah said, while Umar was arrested for allegedly treating bandits who sustained injuries in the forest, Abubakar supplies the bandits with essential commodities.
The 34-year-old medical personnel suspect, Murtala Umar, claimed that he studied Junior Community Health Extension Work at the School of Health Technology, in Kankia Local Government Area of the state, and owns a Chemist at Tashar Mai-Alewa Village, in Danmusa Local Government Area.
While confessing, the suspect, Umar narrated his involvement with the crime, that, he was approached by the bandits with sophisticated weapons, warning him not to reveal their identity or risk being killed.
He added that the bandits told him to also be treating their wounded colleagues, and was threatened with abduction and be killed if he fails.
The suspect regretted his failure to have reported to the security agencies.
According to him, though he knew the action was wrong, he was afraid for his life.
On his part, the 45-year-old suspect, Yakuba Abubakar who owns and runs a provision store at the same Tashar Mai-Alewa Village in Danmusa Local Government Area, alleged to be a bandits’ foodstuffs supplier.
He said he is aware of the security challenges containment order and pleaded to be pardoned, saying, the only regret is not to have reported to the appropriate security agencies.
Investigation is ongoing according to SP Gambo Isah.
