Katisna Hunters offer to assist in fighting banditry
Nigeria Hunters Council, NHC Katsina State branch has offered to assist the State Government in the fight against banditry.
The Assistant Commandant General, ACG Ummah Dauda made the offer when she led other members of the State Council on a courtesy call to Secretary to Government of Katsina State, Mustapha Inuwa, in Katsina.
According to Ummah Dauda. “We know forest and the true of the matter is that we want to help our government in the fight against banditry because even guns cannot penetrate us. We are warriors, and fighters.
“That is why we want to offer ourselves to the government to also use us in combating the menace of this security challenge.
“Our workforce in each local government areas are more than a hundred even some LGAs we have over 2 hundred hunters and all of them are warriors. History has it that some of our men caught bandits with their bare hands and handed them over to security agents.
“We are ready to find these bandits now if we are giving permission to do so considering that we know all nocks and cranny of forests around,” ACG Ummah Dauda added.
She then used the medium to plead for office accommodations among other essential things to enable her members to work effectively.
Responding, the Secretary to Government of Katsina State, Mustapha Inuwa who welcome the idea of the hunters said the administration of Governor Aminu Bello Masari is poised in curbing the insecurity hence critical stakeholders as hunters would be considered.
“Insecurity is not only about government alone; hence it cannot do it alone. It is every body business. We thank God, the measures taken so far is yielding positive results, especially for informants,” he said.
