As Nigeria join the global community in celebrating this year’s 2021 International Day of Peace, a nongovernmental organization, Standup for Women Society, SWS has called on people to embrace Peace at all times irrespective of their backgrounds.
This was made known in a statement signed by its National President, Barr. Deborah Abosede Ijadele-Adetona and issued to journalists by the National Publicity Secretary, Bilkisu Ado Zango to celebrate International Peace Day 2021, with theme: “Recovering Better for an Equitable and Sustainable World”.
The World Peace Day is celebrated and devoted annually on September 21st to strengthen the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
Standup for Women Society (SWS) is joining the efforts of the United Nations family to focus on recovering peaceful co-existence of a more equitable and peaceful world.
SWS charges everyone to celebrate peace by standing up against acts of hate online and offline, and by spreading compassion, kindness, and hope in the face of the pandemic for sustainable peaceful co- existence.
It’s also on this note, that SWS is calling on all relevant stakeholders and warring parties to unite and embrace peace, especially in the face of the recent pandemic and economic crisis in which the most vulnerable among the society that is women, children, and people with disabilities are most affected. We need to give peace a chance.
