GOVERNOR Aminu Masari of Katsina State has on Thursday told the Inspector General of Police that bandits in the state have already infiltrated many communities by recruiting many young people into the business.
Governor Masari also told IGP to deploy technology devices to deal decisively with bandits across their operational areas in the country.
He reiterated his earlier call for people to defend themselves against bandits, saying they must be encouraged to devise means of defending themselves against bandits’ attack amidst inadequate numbers of the police personnel to protect them and their property.
Katsina Governor made the disclosure while playing host to IGP and his entourage at Government House, Katsina.
Masari urged the police to go after the notorious bandits leaders in their various hideouts using modern technological devices, noting that they feel they are untouchable.
He pledged to advocate with the political leaders in the country to see that the Nigerian police and other security agents are adequately supported in all ramifications.
“Almost all junctions you find bandits informants. We must work together and stop the blame game”.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba who is Katsina States wide visit said the Nigerian Police Force is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Justice to ensure that criminals mostly bandits, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers are promptly punished to serve as deterrent to others terrorizing innocent citizens in the country.
The IGP who was accompanied by the state Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba and other top senior officers in his entourage informed the Governor that he was in the state for a working visit aimed at changing the narrative of security in the state as he appreciates the security realities on the ground with a view to deal decisively with them.
He further pledged to work hard to see that the situation is brought under control and greatly mitigated with the plans on ground along with the support getting from the Katsina state government and other security agencies.
IGP Baba while assuring the force readiness to work to ensure that citizens go back to their normal lives announced that recruitment of the state police officers across all the 774 Local Government Areas in the country represented will soon resume.
He therefore seized the moment to commend the Governor Masari for always aiding and assisting the activities of the Police and other security agencies in the state, which he, however, believed nothing changes yet.
