President, Bruder Hilfe e.V, Mary Oluwabamigbe Bruder said, her organization is partnering Katsina State Governor’s post retirement plan foundation, Aminu Masari Youth Empowerment Foundation, AMYEF to bring sucour to the most fortunate children in the State.
Bruder Hilfe e. V, also known as Bruder Hilfe Development Initiative, is an international organization, operating in Germany and Nigeria, aimed at providing education, health, water aid and empowerment.
According to Mary Bruder, “We in Diasporas thinks we should come home and help our country instead of staying there and be criticizing the government in our country, and come together to say what can we do to help our country to progress in our little way?
“We thank God for the International NGO that are trying to help us, but we believe as Nigerians we should take the forefront in helping our people because we know exactly how to help our people.
She noted with dismay how some people discouraged her not to come to Katsina “I’m like everybody tells me: Why are you coming to Katsina? I say, I will come. It is my country and nothing will happen to me, and thank God I am here today.
“With the NGO in Nigeria, we can get donations from all over the world. We want to bring donations to Nigeria from Germany, USA and all over the world and this is what the organization has been doing.
“We have been to so many States in Nigeria. In 2018, we were in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital, we donated mobility carts. We were also in Bauchi 2019 and in 2020, we were in Sokoto, and now we are in Katsina.
This mobility carts, they are special mobility cart, they are not actually wheelchairs but mobility cart. They are specially made for persons living with disabilities. It is a way of empowering them to start a small trade. As you can see, there is a small compartment inside, where they can engage in small trading.
Bruder threw more light on how her organization get involved with Governor Masari pet project, “We started our engagement with the first lady NGO. We have been following her works, and we saw the passion in her works. We have seen that she has done a lot in equity, children empowerment and education among others.
“So, last time, we also partnered with her organization and donated 80 pieces of the mobility cart and then this time around, we are partnering with His Excellency and his NGO”, as she tagged it ‘Project Inclusive’.
She stressed out that, they cannot quantify the donations made by AMYEF’s, but will worth $120,000 while Masari paid the counterpart funding for the logistics cost for all the cost that is involved to get it to Katsina.
In an interview, Mary Oluwabamigbe Bruder, said they also have many Nigerian students on their scholarship payroll while some are studying in Germany on Brurder-Hilfe Rural Development Initiatives.
The Bruder President, therefore said, 24 children of four families in some selected LGAs in Katsina will benefit from the scholarship.
“So, we are starting our project in Katsina State and Bruder-Hilfe will love to work in rural areas and hard to reach areas where no one wants to go.
“I am so impressed with His Excellency, I can see the passion in him. I can see the fatherly passion. Because for him to even say I want to be part of this… because other people will say why are we even spending a dime on people with disabilities that we can use it to buy food. I hear many people say we want to buy our people food but how long are we going to be buying food, how long are you going to be feeding them but when you empower them that will go a long way.
Recalled, recently, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has unveiled his post retirement plan and distributed 200 wheelchairs to people with disabilities across all LGAs in the State.
