Mahadi’s supporters mocked, stage play his appearance in Court

THE premises of a Federal High Court Kano today, has witnessed a mild drama by people who are mainly youth, claimed to be ” supporters of a Kaduna base business mogul, Mahadi Shehu, tried to mimic his usual fake appearances in Court.

Recall, Mahadi Shehu had previously appeared during court sittings dressed in fake apparels, including wearing cruches and pretending to be unfit to stand trials.

The ”supporters” had laid ambush at the entrance to the Federal High Court premises to re-enact his usual appearances just to mock him, they were, however, disappointed as he came in, simply dressed in brown caftan and wearing none of those make believe attires.

When the court resumed sitting presided over by Justice Abdullahi Mohammed Liman, the six count charges was read out but Mahadi pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Council, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Solomon Lough drew the attention of the presiding judge to about 32 violations committed by Mahadi Shehu against his bail terms adding that he has already filled a motion before the court.

Justice Liman in his ruling ordered that both the motion and the arrangements be taken on the new adjoined dates of July 26 and 27th,2021

Speaking to journalists shortly after the court proceedings, the Prosecuting Counsel said the case had to be adjourned because it’s being taken over by a new presiding judge to enable him study the case properly.

Earlier in the last adjourn day, Muhammad Mahdi Shehu was arraigned before Justice Lewis Allagoa who has been transferred to other jurisdiction whom before his transferred, granted the whistle blower bail to the tune of N10 million and a reliable surety with a landed property in Kano Municipal and verified residential address in Kano.

According to the charge sheet by prosecution, alledged that Mahdi Shehu between May to July 2020, while acting in concert and with the intent to defame, insult, cause enmity, hatred, ill will and damaged the reputation and integrity of Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello And his Cabinet.

It would also be recalled that the Inspector General of Police IGP had taken Mahadi to court based on the complaint received from the Katsina State Government on fake corrupt allegations he had made against it.
